Our story
Australian Blue was founded in Sydney in 2020. We had just spent a year of weekends printing out PDF itineraries, scribbling notes in the margins of Lonely Planet editions from 2017, and answering the same questions from visiting friends on WhatsApp where should we eat in Melbourne?, is the Great Ocean Road worth the drive?, is Darwin boring?
We realised no one was writing the book we wanted to own: an honest, handcrafted, up-to-date, opinionated travel guide to Australia not a 500-page hotel directory with affiliate links in every paragraph.
So we wrote it ourselves.
What we do
One thing only: publish travel books about Australia. The 2026 edition is our fourth. Every year we revisit every region in the book, eat at every restaurant we recommend, and update what's changed. If a place closes, it leaves the book. If a new one is worth the detour, it gets a page.
What we don't do
We don't run a travel agency. We don't book flights, hotels, tours or rental cars. We don't offer tour packages. We don't sell visa assistance. We don't provide immigration advice. We don't accept sponsored content or affiliate commissions on any recommendation in the book.
We publish a book. You buy it. You travel.
